New Members Attend National Advisory Eye Council Meeting

At the January 18 meeting of the National Advisory Eye Council (NAEC), the federal advisory council to the National Eye Institute, NEI Director Dr. Paul Sieving announced the following new Council members:

Dr. Mae Gordon (Washington University School of Medicine), who is a biostatistician specializing in outcomes measures who played a major role in the analysis of data generated in the NEI-funded Ocular Hypertension Treatment Study (OHTS)

Dr. Douglas Johnson (Mayo Medical Center), a practitioner and researcher specializing in glaucoma

Dr. Chris McGahan (North Carolina State University), who is engaged in lens metabolism research

Dr. Val Sheffield (University of Iowa College of Medicine/Howard Hughes Medical Institute), who is engaged in pediatric vision research, primarily genetics
