DOD Announces FY2013 Assistive Technologies Research

The United States Army’s Defense Medical Research and Development Program (DMRDP) has announced that the Fiscal Year (FY) 2013 Assistive Technologies Research Program (ATRA) is now open for Pre-Application submission.

The deadline for submitting a Pre-Application is January 8, 2013. The maximum funding for each award will be $2 million over 4 years, and 3 projects are expected to be funded.

The specific focus area of this award is on restorative and rehabilitative assistive technologies for sensory substitution/augmentation of vision, hearing, and/or balance. Studies involving drugs or biologics are not allowed. In addition, funding from this award mechanism must support a clinical trial and cannot be used for preclinical research studies.
