Emerging Vision Scientist Program
The Annual Emerging Vision Scientists (EVS) program, organized by AEVR, unfolds annually on Capitol Hill, marking a consistent presence for over a decade.
This initiative is designed to cultivate the next wave of vision research advocates by providing professional development opportunities. EVS Day events showcase early-stage investigators hailing from Departments of Ophthalmology and Schools/Colleges of Optometry. These investigators not only present their cutting-edge research but also engage in the crucial task of educating and advocating for the significance of vision research.
Throughout the event, research advocates assume the role of authoritative figures on vision-related matters for their delegation offices. They extend invitations to Congressional Members and staff, encouraging them to explore their respective departments. In essence, the program serves as a platform to bridge the gap between emerging vision scientists and policymakers.
The field of vision science, characterized by its multidisciplinary nature, encompasses basic, translational, and clinical research across diverse domains, including biology, chemistry, physics, applied mathematics, engineering, and neuroscience.
