Emerging Vision Scientist Program

The Annual Emerging Vision Scientists program, organized by AEVR, unfolds annually on Capitol Hill, marking a consistent presence for over a decade while beoming a steadfast tradition.

This esteemed program serves as a nurturing ground for the future leaders of vision research advocacy. Through a series of events, Emerging Vision Scientist gatherings feature bright minds from Departments of Ophthalmology and Schools/Colleges of Optometry, where they not only showcase their groundbreaking research but also take on the crucial role of educating and advocating for the importance of vision research.

During these events, these research advocates seamlessly transition into authoritative figures, serving as esteemed voices on matters related to vision within their respective delegation offices. They extend invitations to Congressional Members and staff, inviting them to delve into the complexities of their specialized fields. Essentially, the program acts as a vital conduit, bridging the gap between emerging vision scientists and policymakers.

The field of vision science, renowned for its multidisciplinary nature, encompasses a spectrum of research spanning biology, chemistry, physics, applied mathematics, engineering, and neuroscience. Through this interdisciplinary lens, vision research unfolds as a vibrant tapestry, incorporating basic, translational, and clinical research, each contributing to the broader landscape of scientific progress.
