(Washington, D.C.) Today, the National Alliance for Eye and Vision Research (NAEVR) announced events in which it would be engaged at the 2016 ARVO Annual Meeting, to be held May 1-May 5, 2017, at the Washington State Convention Center (WSCC) in Seattle, Washington.

  • NAEVR Central Booth, located on the Skybridge between the WSCC and The Conference Center, open Sunday-Wednesday, where attendees can Contact Congress to support Fiscal Year (FY) 2017 increases in federal funding for vision research, as well as learn about research funding resources, such as the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) BRAIN Initiative and multiple Department of Defense (DOD) funding opportunities to study vision trauma research gaps.
  • ARVO’s Vison and Traumatic Brain Injury: The Outlook for Therapeutics Session on Saturday, April 30, from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm in Skagit 4/5 of the WSCC. The session features prominent investigators studying TBI and visual dysfunction in military service members, athletes, veterans, and civilians.
  • NAEVR’s Defense-Related Vision Research Opportunities Session on Monday, May 2, from 7:30-8:30 am in Room 3AB of the WSCC. NAEVR has invited DOD representatives to speak about the Peer Reviewed Vision Research Program (VRP) funding opportunities and past awardees to offer insights into how researchers can be most responsive to DOD medical research programs that include vision and visual dysfunction issues in their areas of study. DOD representatives will also be available to meet with researchers throughout the meeting to discuss individual research projects-a meeting sign-up sheet will be available at the Monday morning session.
