NAEVR And ARVO To Host Special Defense Research Funding Opportunities Webinar
(Washington, D.C.) Today, the National Alliance for Eye and Vision Research (NAEVR) and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) announced that the two organizations will host a special Defense Research Funding Opportunities webinar on May 19 at 1:00 pm Eastern (10:00 am Pacific). The Webinar, hosted by NAEVR Executive Director James Jorkasky and ARVO President W. Daniel Stamer, PhD, FARVO (Duke University), will feature Q. Tian Wang, PhD, Program Manager for the Department of Defense’s (DOD) Vision Research Program (VRP).
Dr. Wang will discuss the VRP’s history, processes, and the upcoming Fiscal Year (FY) 2020 Program Announcement, including research priorities, funding mechanisms, the application process, and dollar amounts for each award from the total $20 million in funding provided by Congress. She will also discuss other funding opportunities within the DOD and take questions, time permitting.
The webinar, which is free and open to any interested researcher, will be available for viewing on the ARVO Web site afterwards.

The Webinar is being offered in place of NAEVR’s annual Defense Research Funding Opportunities session held at the ARVO Annual Meeting, which was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
