World Glaucoma Week Briefing and Release of
The Silver Book®: Vision Loss Volume II

Recognizing World Glaucoma Week 2012, this briefing will educate attendees about glaucoma incidence and progress towards individualized treatments, many of which have emerged from research funded by the National Eye Institute (NEI) within the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Additionally, AEVR is joining with the Alliance for Aging Research to release The Silver Book®: Vision Loss Volume II, an update of the 2007 edition of the compendium of data on the incidence of and research into aging eye disease available on-line at www.silverbook.org/visionloss and in hard copy.

Deployment-Related Vision Trauma Research: A Vision Enhancement System for the Blind and Significantly Visually Impaired

The Peer Reviewed Vision Trauma Research Program, which is a dedicated line in Department of Defense (DOD) appropriations, funds DOD-identified research gaps into deployment-related vision trauma caused by penetrating eye injuries and visual impairment from Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). This year, AEVR’s briefing focuses on research into a wearable, electronic vision enhancement to guide blinded or significantly visually impaired individuals through their environment, improving quality of life.
