AEVR ANNOUNCES JUNE 8 CONGRESSIONAL BRIEFING—DRY EYE: TODAY’S RESEARCH, TOMORROW’S SOLUTIONS

(Washington, D.C.) Today, the Alliance for Eye and Vision Research’s (AEVR) Decade of Vision 2010-2020 Initiative announced its Dry Eye: Today’s Research, Tomorrow’s Solutions Congressional Briefing, to be held June 8, 2016, from 12 Noon – 1:15 pm in House Rayburn Office Building Room B-339. RSVP to Dina Beaumont at 202-407-8325 or [email protected].

Featured speaker Kelly K. Nichols, O.D., M.P.H., Ph.D. (Dean of the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry) will address the burden of dry eye and the research to treat and prevent it—the latter funded, in part, by the National Eye Institute (NEI) within the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

The Briefing is co-sponsored by Research to Prevent Blindness, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, Women in Ophthalmology, Women’s Eye Health, Society for Women’s Health Research, and Sjögren’s Syndrome Foundation.

Commenting on this upcoming event, AEVR Executive Director James Jorkasky said, “When Dr. Nichols last spoke on this topic in 2006, it was the most-attended Congressional Briefing to-date. I look forward to her update on the status of research to treat and prevent this condition which affects so many Americans.”

Alliance for Eye and Vision Research (AEVR), a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation, is proud to announce these educational programs associated with its Decade of Vision 2010-2020 Initiative, a sustained educational effort acknowledged by Congress that recognizes the benefits of federally funded vision research.
