AEVR ANNOUNCES 20TH ANNIVERSARY CONGRESSIONAL RECEPTION ON OCTOBER 9, 2013, IN RAYBURN FOYER
(Washington, D.C) Today, the Alliance for Eye and Vision Research (AEVR) announced that it will hold a Congressional Reception in conjunction with the celebration of its 20th anniversary on Wednesday, October 9, 2013, from 5:30 7:30 pm in the House Rayburn Office Building Foyer. AEVR President Peter McDonnell, M.D. (Wilmer Eye Institute/Johns Hopkins) will host, with National Eye Institute (NEI) Director Paul Sieving, M.D., Ph.D. providing brief comments about breakthroughs in sight-saving and sight-restoring vision research.
In announcing the reception, AEVR Executive Director James Jorkasky stated that, Although the reception is a celebration of AEVRs 20th anniversary as the Friends of the NEI, it focuses on AEVRs message about the value of federally funded vision research for patients, especially that by the NEI within the National Institutes of Health (NIH). In that regard, AEVR will release at the event a new brochure entitled The Value of Federally Funded Vision Research which will be distributed to all Congressional offices.
