Congress Passes Final FY2021 Spending Bill Which Includes $20 M for Defense Vision Funding

Update: On December 27, President Trump signed the legislation.

On December 21, both the House and Senate passed a massive spending bill, the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 (H.R. 133) that includes $1.4 trillion in government funding that reflects all twelve of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2021 spending bills and $900 billion in COVID-19 relief. As of late December 22, President Trump signaled that he might veto the bill unless the direct stimulus payments to Americans were increased from $600 to $2,000 per individual.

Included in the Defense portion of the omnibus bill was $20 million for the Department of Defense’s (DOD) Vision Research Program (VRP), which would be the third year that the program is funded at that level.
