Today, the Senate Appropriations Committee released its Fiscal Year (FY) 2015 302(b) subcommittee allocations, which establish the funding levels for each of the 12 subcommittees that write the individual appropriations bills each year. The allocations are a required part of the appropriations process. The House Appropriations Committee released its allocations last week.

For the Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education (LHHS) subcommittee, the FY2015 allocation is $156.8 billion, approximately $1 billion higher than the House allocation of $155.7 billion, but about $8 billion below the FY2013 Senate allocation of $164.3 billion.

At the markup, Senate Appropriations Committee Chair Barbara Mikulski (D-MD, noting that the Committee was getting its allocations approved a month earlier than last year, stated that it was her goal to have all 12 appropriations bills reported by the full Committee by July 10.

At this time, neither the House or Senate LHHS appropriations subcommittee has set a date for marking up their FY2015 bill.
