  • NAEVR Central Booth open Sunday-Wednesday and located in the Exhibit Hall at the end of aisle 3300. Attendees can Contact Congress, letting your delegation Members know concerns about proposed Fiscal Year (FY) 2018 Trump Administration NIH budget cuts and NIH reorganization/re-prioritization of research. You can also learn about various federal funding opportunities, including NIH’s BRAIN Initiative and multiple Department of Defense (DOD) funding opportunities to study vision trauma research gaps (see third bullet). Feel free to stop by!

  • ARVO’s Eye and Vision Trauma Session on Sunday, May 7, from 8:30 – 10:30am, in Room 316 of the BCC. NAEVR is pleased to support this session.

  • NAEVR’s Defense-Related Vision Research Opportunities Session on Monday, May 8, from 7:30-8:30 am in Room 328 of the BCC. NAEVR has invited DOD representatives to speak about the Peer Reviewed Vision Research Program (VRP) funding opportunities and past awardees to offer insights into success. Note: If FY2017 appropriations are finalized by early May, the VRP will issue a Program Announcement shortly.
In addition, NAEVR Executive Director James Jorkasky will speak at a Special Interest Group (SIG) session entitled “National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine, Making Eye Health A Population Health Imperative Report: Closing the Gaps in Eye Care”.
